Butterfly Guard: Ham Sandwich

The Ham Sandwich as demonstrated by Alder Hampel is a submission from the Butterfly Guard.

The technique starts from the Cocoon when your opponent tries to stand up to back out or pass your guard. You follow his leg up with your hook on the same side. You want to make sure that you have a nice tight hook.

Your other butterfly hook then goes across his leg. It looks very awkward but you actually have great control of your opponent from here.

Once you grab his ankle and lock your feet the sweep is almost automatic.

From the top position you want to control his leg and head, push your hips forward and you will get the tap. You can also easily go for the pass here too.
