Full Guard: Handcuff to Jiu Claw

The first thing you have to do is break your opponent's posture down. The way that I do it in the pictures below is to sit up, lock a Rear Naked Choke behind his neck and pull him down.

After breaking my opponent down I go to Cobra Control where you get the overhook with one arm and the other hand controls the back of his neck to hold him in place.

Once you have the Handcuff position your opponent may block the transition to the Triangle by dropping their elbow to the mat. That's when you go to New York so you can transition to Jiu Claw.

Handcuff to JiuClaw

First you have to break your opponent's posture down. Here Jason Mallory sits up and gets control of Patrik Bogyo's head with a Rear Naked type control.

Handcuff to JiuClaw

Next you pull your opponent down into your Full Guard ...

Handcuff to JiuClaw

And go to Cobra Control by grabbing the overhook and gaining control of your opponent's neck.

Handcuff to JiuClaw

When your opponent posts his left arm on the mat then you take your right hand from his neck and contol his wrist that is on the mat.

Handcuff to JiuClaw

Once you have control of his wrist you will have to fight to pass his wrist to your left arm that has the overhook.

Handcuff to JiuClaw

You want to control your opponent's left wrist with both hands until you have a secure grasp with your left hand. If it is in an MMA event you can grab the glove or slip your fingers inside the glove to maintain control.

At this point if your opponent drops his left elbow to the mat to prevent the transition to the Triangle then you ...

Handcuff to JiuClaw

You bring your left leg up and hook your ankle with your right hand to set up New York. After you open your Closed Guard your right foot should go to your opponent's hip.

Handcuff to JiuClaw

Now you can let go of he overhook, hug your knee and you are at New York. As long as you are hugging your knee tight and doing a leg curl with your left leg your opponent will not be able to pull their right arm free.

Handcuff to JiuClaw

Now you can pull your left foot in front of your opponent's face. I like to use the Mad Dog control here.

Handcuff to JiuClaw

Once you have Mad Dog you kick your legs straight and allow your body to rotate. As you rotate you have to control your opponent's right wrist with your right hand and his legs with your left arm.

Now you are at Jiu Claw. From here you can sit up to finish the Omoplata, make him roll for the sweep or scoot your butt back so that you can take his back.
