The Capoeria Roll as demonstrated in the video above by the Mendes brothers, Rafeal and Guilherme is a sneaky way to take the back from the Capoeira pass position. The concept behind this tekk is very similar to Eddie Bravo's Twister Roll.
From the HG the basic idea to the Capoeira pass is that you pass the guard by backstepping and landing in HG but instead of your top leg being trapped face down, now it is trapped face up.
This is still a tricky position for the top guy to pass because if the bottom guy follows the backstep with momentum they can easily end up in the top position of their opponent's HG.
In the video above the Mendes brothers demonstrate how to take your opponent's back after completing the backstep. They are speaking Portuguese in the video and I am sure you may miss some details but the beauty of Jiu Jitsu is that movement transcends language.
Play around with this one, you can make it work by trapping your opponent's foot without asking them to switch their feet ;)
