From the HG there are a number of sweeps available to you. In the video above Eddie Bravo goes over how the Old Skool Sweep and the Electric Chair Sweep work together.
Old Skool is one of the first sweeps that Eddie Bravo developed. As the story goes Eddie came up with it while stuck in the HG on the bottom one day while training at Jean Jacques Machado's.
This was back in '96 and the Machado brothers had never seen the sweep before. They thought that Eddie had made it up.
The sweep travelled from the LA jiu jitsu circuit all the way down to Brazil where six years later it was the "new" technique that everybody was using.
Anyway, the Old Skool to Electric Chair is a powerful combination.
Be careful if you get caught in the Electric Chair. The Lockdown on your leg can become powerful enough while your legs are stretched out that it will tear the ligaments and cartilage in your knee.
In May of 2008 at the Hungarian Submission Wrestling Championships I saw a Hungarian Wrestling National Champion get his knee popped from the Electric Chair.
I knew that he was in danger because I was familiar with the position. He apparently was not. His opponent had him all stretched out with the Lockdown TIGHT. I said to my friend next to me "If he is not careful he is going to get his knee popped."
Almost on cue, his knee popped and he had to be carried over to the doctor's booth.
