Half Guard: Golden Arm to
Rubix Cube

From Half Guard with the Lockdown in you trap their post arm like you are going for the Golden Arm Sweep.

From this position on your side you are going to go to Full Guard and then transition to the Triangle. The whole time your opponent is going to be all tied up.

You can also use the Triangle setup directly from the Full Guard.

GoldenArmTriangle

Starting from Half Guard with the Lockdown in and double underhooks with a Ball & Socket grip you...

GoldenArmTriangle

Whip his leg up and raise him upward with your underhooks so that you can...

GoldenArmTriangle

Get to your side. Here you have his left leg stretched out which destroys his base and forces him to post his left arm.

If you are competing in an MMA event you will want to keep your head nice and tight to his body to avoid strikes.

Your opponent should not be able to strike from this position because if they lift their left hand to strike they will go face first into the mat.

GoldenArmTriangle

Now you let go of your right underhook and grab the wrist of their posting hand.

GoldenArmTriangle

Then you pull their arm in and trap it to their body with both hands. From here you can go to the Golden Arm Sweep or you can transition to the Triangle in the next step.

GoldenArmTriangle

In this step you release the Lockdown by posting your left foot on the mat inside his leg and bringing your right knee up to...

GoldenArmTriangle

Full Guard. You have to maintain control of his left arm with both hands as you gain Full Guard.

GoldenArmTriangle

Next you bring your left leg inside his trapped arm. You want to keep your right foot up tight to his hip so that he cannot step over your leg.

GoldenArmTriangle

Now you release your left arm and regrab your left foot. His left arm is still trapped tight.

GoldenArmTriangle

Next you quickly let go of his wrist with your right hand, pass your right leg over his trapped arm and then regrab his wrist to keep his arm trapped.

GoldenArmTriangle

Now your bring your right leg over his shoulder and grab your ankle with your left arm while maintaining wrist control on his left arm.

GoldenArmTriangle

Now you bring your right hand to your right knee as you release your left foot and bring it up so that you can ...

GoldenArmTriangle

Lock in the Triangle.

GoldenArmTriangle

Then you just pass his right arm across your body, pull his head down and raise your hips to finish the submission.
