Here is a sweep from the Z Guard which is a HG leg variation that works best when your opponent's base is shallow.
The first step in the technique is to transition from the HG to the Z Guard by sliding your top leg across your opponent's waist while hooking his leg with your bottom leg. You should be driving his hips down and away with your top leg and clinching his trapped leg towards you with leg curls.
You also want to get a tight overhook on the same side arm that you have trapped in order to control your opponent's posture and be ready to block head shots with your other arm. This detail is really important for self defense or MMA. If you let your opponent sit up and back in your HG in MMA they have the space to create power for punches and elbows.
Once you have the position you drive your bottom knee behind your opponent's base knee and switch your hips. If they base out you can underhook the far knee and sweep them over or go to full guard.
