The Fighter's Arsenal contributor, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and Pro MMA fighter Jacen Flynn describes how to perform the Twister Mount from Back Control.
This technique got it's name because it utilizes a modified Twister technique to mount and submit your opponent. The technique uses extreme hip pressure and a cross face to encourage a tap. This is one of Jacen's Back Control techniques that gives practitioners extra options once they have achieved Back Control. Once you have your opponent imobolized in the Twister Mount they will have little defense against your submission attempts so your kill percentages will increase substantially. This is a great move for MMA or grappling, because it is an ideal striking or rear naked choke set up position.
Step 1: Place opponent into the lazy boy position.
Step 2: Secure the harness grip. Remember your under arm always grabs your over arm.
Step 3: Lay your opponent to one side on the "pillow".
Step 4: Secure the triangle body lock.
Step 5: Place your top leg between your opponent's legs next to the groin.
Step 6: Break your opponent's grip using your elbow.
Step 7: Baseball grip your opponent's arm and place it under your shoulders.
Step 8: Bring your hips in and come up on your elbow.
Step 9: Come up into the mount position while keeping your body lock tight.
Step 10: Increase hip and leg pressure until you get the tap.
Step 11: If your opponent is stubborn push their head up and back using a cross face.
Special notes:
- When securing your harness grip be sure to prevent your opponent from getting wrist control by covering as much of your wrist as possible.
- When placing your leg in between your opponent's legs, keep your shin high in the groin.
- The baseball grip is just like you would hold a bat and gives you greater leverage over your opponent's arm.
- When breaking your opponent's grip, drive your elbow into the ribs and use the leverage to get them to release.
- While in Twister Mount use the cross face if your opponent does not tap from the body triangle.
