Leg Locks: Principles

Igor Yakimov, world renown Sambo master and champion breaks the four types of leg attacks down for us in this video.

The first type of leg attack that he covers is 'barring'. Any kind of knee bar where the leg is locked out straight and you are hyper extending the knee.

The next type is twisting or 'screwing' as he calls it. This type can be applied to the knee, ankle or even the hip.

There are also 'crushing' attacks to the knee. This is where you have a forearm or leg deep in the knee joint as it is forced closed.

The last kind he talks about is stretching. These in my humble opinion are the least effective against an opponent that has really flexible hips and legs.
