Side Mount Escape: The Flo











Here is a slick transition from Side Control when you are on the bottom to Butterfly Guard that Eddie Bravo calls 'The Flo". In the video above Charles Pearson from Lockflow demonstrates the transition.

The first thing you wanna do is shift your hips away from your opponent so that you can hook his near leg. Then you want to stretch it out and lift it up before they shift their hips to escape.

Once you have the leg trapped and you lift it up then your other leg hooks underneath. Now here is where you have the option to either to to upper half or lower half positional fighting.

If you want to go to leg control you will want to slide your outside leg all the way under his trapped leg and lock up an Outside Triangle. Then you can go for the Heel Hook, Achilles Lock or Toe Hold.

If you want to go to upper body fighting you can transition to the Butterfly Guard as Charles demonstrates in the video above.
