The Body Lock that he uses to secure and finish the Triangle does three things. First, it cinches up the Triangle super tight because of the perpendicular angle. Second, it prevents the person from gaining posture or stepping the leg over to counter. And third, the perpendicular angle makes it very hard for your opponent to pick you up for the slam even if they could posture up.
