Home » Grappling Style

Grappling is a term that applies to those fighting arts that focus on clinching your opponent from stand-up, taking them down with throws, shots and trips and then ground fighting where you use chokes, arm locks, leg locks, compressions or pins to finish the fight.

Before the early 90's and the explosion of Gracie Jiu Jitsu on the world scene Judo, Greco Roman and Freestyle Wrestling were the most well known forms of this style of fighting.

Other forms include Sambo, Catch & Collegiate Wrestling and Japanese Jujutsu.

There are other martial arts that use similar types of techniques to a degree such as Wing Chun or Aikido but I wouldn't put those styles in the same category.
